CHALLENGE

Known for their delectable flavours popular to the locals such as Mao Shan Wang, Cempedak, and Teh Tarik, premium ice cream chain Inside Scoop needed to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic-induced disruptions and subsequent closures.

At the same time, they recognised the need to supplement their brick-and-mortar strategy with a strong e-commerce platform to meet the demands of today’s digital consumers, yet were not ready to commit to an increase of their modest online ad budget.

METHODOLOGY & SOLUTION

OpenMinds™ started with an analysis of past and present digital strategies and ads performance. Using the insights gathered, we devised a funnel strategy that began with raising awareness to the brand’s seasonal products and online mediums, to converting the target audience into paying customers in their e-commerce site through a series of targeted ads on Facebook & Instagram.

To increase conversion rate, we set up the test environment, created data-backed hypothesis, and ran multiple A/B tests to determine the optimal ad type, placement, copy, visual, and campaign mechanics for each unique customer segments.

Post-campaign efforts included cohort analysis and recommendation for remarketing and retention.

KEY OUTCOMES

The data-driven and highly-targeted approach resulted in a record-breaking 1300% revenue growth Year-on-Year (YoY) for their seasonal products, and 5x Return on Ad Spent (ROAS). While offline sales continue to form the bulk of their revenue and retail outlets remain their core channel, Inside Scoop is well positioned to scale aggressively amidst the pandemic with a substantial online revenue stream.

The proven efficacy of our ads strategy also translated into huge confidence towards paid media, and saw a significant increase in their performance marketing budget.
